Privacy Policy
This Privacy Policy explains how Gallery (“the App”) handles information. The App is a local-first photo gallery and editor. We do not operate an account system, and we do not run a server that stores your photos or videos.
Contact: replace this with your email, for example YOUR_EMAIL@example.com, or use the email listed on the Google Play store listing for Gallery.
1. Information we do not collect
We do not require you to create an account. We do not collect:
- Your name, email, or phone number through the App
- Your photos, videos, or screenshots on our servers
- Your app lock PIN on our servers
Photos, videos, albums, favorites, hidden items, recently deleted items, and editor exports stay on your device unless you choose to share them with another app.
2. Photos, videos, and media access
With your permission, the App reads photos and videos stored on your device so you can browse albums, view, edit, favorite, hide, delete, and export media. On Android this may include permissions such as:
- Photos and videos (for example READ_MEDIA_IMAGES and READ_MEDIA_VIDEO)
- Selected photos and videos (READ_MEDIA_VISUAL_USER_SELECTED)
- Storage access on older Android versions (READ_EXTERNAL_STORAGE)
The App displays media from your device library. It does not upload that library to us. You can deny or later revoke media permission in system settings; without it, the gallery cannot show your library.
3. Information stored only on your device
The App stores preferences and app data locally, including:
- App lock on/off and PIN (stored on the device)
- Theme, hidden album, favorites, and similar settings
- Recently deleted retention settings
Uninstalling the App removes this local app data. Your original photos and videos in the device gallery are not deleted unless you delete them in the App or another gallery app.
Cloud backup and cloud sync controls in Settings do not currently upload your media to a cloud service operated by us. Do not rely on those switches as an off-device backup.
4. Sharing
If you tap Share, the App may send a file or text to another app you choose (for example Messages or Drive). That other app has its own privacy policy. Sharing is optional and user-initiated.
5. Advertising (Google AdMob)
The App uses Google AdMob to show banner, native, interstitial, rewarded, rewarded interstitial, and app open ads. Ads need an internet connection.
Google and its partners may collect identifiers used for advertising, including the Android Advertising ID, device and usage data, and IP address, as described in Google’s policies. The App requests the Advertising ID permission for this purpose. In regions where required, a consent form (Google User Messaging Platform) may be shown before personalized ads.
You can learn more here:
- Google Privacy Policy
- How Google uses information from apps
- Opt out of personalized ads (device advertising settings)
Ads are not shown on the photo viewer, editor, or lock screen. You can temporarily hide ads by watching a rewarded ad, where that option is offered.
6. Other third-party services
- Google Fonts. The App may download the Plus Jakarta Sans font from Google so text can be displayed. Google may receive a network request from your device. See Google’s Privacy Policy.
- Internet. Network access is used for ads, font loading, and any other Google SDK traffic. We do not operate our own analytics or crash-reporting service in this App.
7. Children
The App is not directed at children under 13 (or the equivalent age in your country). We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided information through ads or the App, contact us and we will take appropriate steps.
8. Data security
Media and settings remain on your device. App lock with a PIN can limit opening the App on that device; it is not a substitute for full-disk encryption or a password manager. Do not reuse an important password as your PIN.
9. Your choices
- Grant, limit, or revoke photos/videos permission in Android settings
- Reset or limit the Advertising ID in Android settings
- Respond to the in-app ads consent form where it is shown
- Clear app data or uninstall the App to remove local App settings
10. Changes
We may update this Privacy Policy. The “Last updated” date at the top will change when we do. Continued use of the App after an update means you accept the revised policy.
